The Institution of Engineers (India), Manipur State Centre, in collaboration with the Department of Environment & Climate Change and the Department of MAHUD, Government of Manipur, inaugurated a two-day All India Seminar on “Solid Waste Management: Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Future” at the Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Porompat, Imphal East.
The seminar, held on August 22–23, was formally inaugurated by Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, who attended as Chief Guest.

The programme was presided over by Er. L. Swamikanta Singh, Chairman, IEI Manipur State Centre.
The two-day seminar brought together engineers, researchers, and policymakers for technical sessions, paper presentations, and panel discussions on sustainable waste management. Experts highlighted the urgent need for innovative, community-driven solutions and stressed the role of awareness and education in tackling the mounting challenge of solid waste.
As part of the event, a Souvenir was also released to mark the occasion.
The seminar sets the tone for building a cleaner, greener Manipur while contributing to India’s broader mission of sustainable development.
