As part of the Multi-sectoral and Interdepartmental Collaboration under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the State TB Unit (STU) and the District TB Centre (DTC), Imphal West, organised an awareness lecture on Tuberculosis (TB) with a special focus on screening. The programme was hosted at the College of Food Technology, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal.
Focus on Awareness and Screening
The lecture highlighted the urgent need for early detection of TB through regular screening and community awareness. Experts emphasised that TB, while curable, remains one of the leading public health challenges in India. The programme encouraged students, faculty, and staff to participate actively in screening drives and spread awareness in their communities.
Institutional Support
The success of the initiative was made possible with the collaboration of CAU leadership. The State TB Unit expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of CAU, the Dean, Heads of Departments, and Dr. Bhavna, Medical Officer, for their continuous support in the fight against TB.

TB Mukt Bharat: The Larger Vision
The event was part of the nationwide TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which envisions eliminating tuberculosis from India by 2025. The campaign focuses on:

Manipur continues to be a high-priority state in India’s TB elimination strategy due to its geographical and health challenges. By holding awareness sessions in universities and colleges, authorities aim to build a more informed and proactive youth force in combating TB.
