The Sagol Kangjei Cup 2025, one of the flagship sporting events of the Manipur Sangai Festival, was inaugurated today in a vibrant ceremony at Manung Kangjeibung, Kangla. The event marks the beginning of a spirited tournament honouring Manipur’s ancient martial-sport tradition of Sagol Kangjei — widely acknowledged as the precursor to modern polo.
The inaugural programme was graced by Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur, as the Chief Guest.
Dr. Konsam Saratchandra Singh, President of the All Manipur Polo Association (AMPA), presided over the ceremony.
