Around 1,000 trucks and oil tankers carrying essential commodities for Manipur are reportedly stranded between Jiribam and Jirighat in Assam’s Cachar district due to an inadequate number of security convoys on National Highway-37 (NH-37). Transporters said the prolonged delays have disrupted the movement of essential supplies, caused severe traffic congestion and raised concerns over shortages in the state. They have urged the authorities to increase security escorts and expedite road repairs to restore the supply chain.
