The Central Government on Thursday approved a financial assistance package totaling ₹1,066.80 crore for six flood- and landslide-affected states — Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Kerala, and Uttarakhand — under the Central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the allocation, emphasizing the Centre’s commitment to supporting states grappling with the aftermath of natural disasters, particularly during the ongoing monsoon season.
“This allocation will aid the state governments in providing immediate relief and recovery to the affected people, and in restoring essential infrastructure,” Shah said in an official statement.

Assam, the worst affected among the six, received the highest share at ₹375.60 crore.
Uttarakhand, facing severe landslides in its hilly terrain, was granted ₹455.60 crore — the second-highest allocation.
The Northeastern states of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Mizoram together received nearly ₹82.4 crore.
Kerala, reeling from heavy rains and localized flooding, was sanctioned ₹153.20 crore.
Background:
The State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) is the primary fund available with state governments for responses to notified disasters. The Centre contributes 75% of the SDRF allocation for general category states and 90% for special category states (including the North-Eastern and Himalayan states).
With this release, the Union Government aims to fast-track relief operations, infrastructure repairs, and rehabilitation efforts in flood-ravaged areas, many of which have seen widespread displacement, loss of life, and damage to property.
