Anurag Bajpai Reviews Government Schemes in Kangpokpi District
Anurag Bajpai, PCCF & HoFF and Additional Chief Secretary (Textiles, Commerce & Industries) & (Tribal Affairs & Hills), conducted a comprehensive review of key government schemes in Kangpokpi District. Accompanied by senior officials from the Forest, Tribal Affairs, and Industries Departments, Bajpai assessed the progress of various initiatives and discussed strategies for enhancing their effectiveness.
Review of Key Government Schemes
During a meeting at the Mini Secretariat in Kangpokpi, Bajpai reviewed several prominent government schemes, including PM Vishwakarma, PMEGP, PMFME, and One District One Product. He emphasized the importance of effective implementation and highlighted how the Handloom and Handicraft initiatives support local artisans, particularly through the distribution of looms to internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Discussion on Tribal Affairs Initiatives
Bajpai also led a discussion on the PM Jan Mann scheme and its integration with other flagship programs under Tribal Affairs. He stressed the significance of linking these initiatives to maximize their reach and impact for the local population.
Bamboo Plantation Drive and Environmental Sustainability
In a bid to promote environmental sustainability and livelihood generation, Bajpai encouraged the people of Kangpokpi to participate in a large-scale bamboo plantation drive. He noted that bamboo is a fast-growing species that can support various industries, biofuel production, handicrafts, and food processing. The initiative aims to boost local economies and create sustainable opportunities for the region.
Approval of New Projects and Proposals
Bajpai also shared updates on several key proposals. A new Industrial Estate in Kangpokpi is under advanced consideration by the Government of India, which will potentially provide new economic opportunities. Furthermore, the proposal for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) under the PM Jan Mann scheme is nearing final approval at the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Focus on Interdepartmental Convergence and Proactive Engagement
Bajpai urged field officers to adopt a proactive approach in engaging with local communities and ensuring the effective delivery of benefits. He stressed the need for interdepartmental convergence, calling for coordinated efforts between the Forest Department, the Department of Textiles, Commerce & Industries, and the Department of Tribal Affairs & Hills.
Visit to DFO Office and Project Offices
Later, Bajpai and his team visited the District Forest Officer (DFO) office in Kangpokpi, where he met with frontline forest staff and encouraged them to implement people-centric programs. He also directed the DFO to temporarily operate from an alternative location provided by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) until the office is reconstructed.
Inspections were conducted at the District Industries Centre (DIC) and the office of the Project Manager (Handloom & Textiles), where Bajpai advised both offices to enhance outreach efforts and improve public engagement for maximizing the impact of government schemes.
