he Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, chaired a high-level review meeting at Raj Bhavan to assess the progress of sericulture initiatives in the state.
Director of Sericulture, Shri Robertson Asem, presented updates on silk production, plantation drives, and the current status of the Eri Spun Silk Mill. The Governor emphasized the strategic potential of the sector in boosting local livelihoods and state revenue.
Stressing the need for stronger implementation and monitoring, Governor Bhalla urged officials to scale up operations, improve productivity, and ensure that sericulture becomes a key contributor to Manipur’s economy.
The meeting reflects growing interest in leveraging traditional industries like silk farming to drive sustainable development across rural and tribal regions of the state.
