In a remarkable display of coordination and commitment, the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Manipur Police and the Border Security Force (BSF), successfully rescued three missing children from the Oriental Children’s Home in Hringphe Village, Chakpikarong, Chandel District.
The rescue took place late on 26 August 2025, after an intense 36-hour search operation through thick forest terrain and difficult night conditions.

According to officials, the children were reported missing earlier this week, triggering immediate action. With time being critical, a joint team was swiftly mobilized. The search involved combing through dense forest patches, navigating difficult mountain tracks, and operating through the night despite limited visibility.
By late August 26, the forces managed to trace the children’s location and bring them back safely. They were later reunited with the children’s home authorities. Medical checks were conducted to ensure their well-being.

A caretaker from the children’s home said:
