The Assam Rifles has once again reaffirmed its role as the “Sentinels of the North East” by extending vital healthcare services to remote and underserved communities across Manipur’s hills and hamlets.
In areas where access to medical facilities remains a persistent challenge, the Force organised a series of medical camps and awareness drives in collaboration with district hospitals, NGOs, and civil society organisations. These initiatives provided much-needed relief and reassurance to hundreds of residents who often struggle with basic healthcare access.
Medical Camps and Awareness Drives
The camps offered general health check-ups, maternal and child care support, distribution of essential medicines, and counselling on preventive health practices.
Special emphasis was placed on:
Awareness on hygiene and sanitation
Vaccination support and child nutrition
Women’s health issues
First aid and emergency preparedness in remote terrain
Doctors and paramedics from the Assam Rifles worked closely with district hospital teams, ensuring that treatment and referrals were seamless and locally relevant.

Manipur’s hilly terrain and scattered settlements mean that many families remain hours away from the nearest health centre. For them, such medical camps are often the only direct interaction with trained doctors and structured healthcare.
Residents expressed gratitude, with many highlighting how even simple consultations and access to medicines reduce uncertainty and hardship in their daily lives.
