The Office of Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba has filed a formal complaint against one Sanaton Meitei of Kabo Leikai, Imphal, over a social media post made on 18th August 2025.
According to the complaint, the post allegedly made derogatory remarks casting aspersions on the bloodline of the titular king, which the MP’s office described as “a very bad taste” and “the highest offence to a titular King.”
The letter further objected to allegations linking the MP with Arambai Tengol, dismissing it as “unfounded” and stressing that his encouragement of the group is only as an indigenous cultural body, not as a private army.
The complaint highlights that the MP has been actively raising issues of public interest in Parliament, including matters of internally displaced persons, and argues that maligning his character amounts to misusing freedom of expression.
The letter requested that an FIR be filed against the accused to “teach a lesson” and warned that free speech should not be misinterpreted as a license to spread baseless allegations.
The complaint was received by Porompat Police Station on the same day (20th August 2025), as per official seal and acknowledgment.
