The Korea Manipuri Association (KMA) celebrated Ningol Chakouba 2025 in Jeonju — one of South Korea’s most beautiful and culturally rich cities.
Held on October 3, 2025, ahead of the traditional festival date of October 23, the event made it possible for community members from across Korea to come together for a day filled with nostalgia, laughter, and shared heritage.
The celebration brought together Manipuris from different parts of the country, along with friends from other communities, in a vibrant display of unity and cultural pride.
By opening its doors to guests beyond the community, KMA reaffirmed its belief that culture grows stronger when shared.
The event featured an array of performances that captured the essence of Ningol Chakouba. Married women (Ningols) sang heartfelt songs, while the young ladies (Leshabi) performed a graceful traditional dance that moved the audience. The youngest members of the community added their energy through cheerful performances, and KMA Pibas worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make it all possible.
And of course, no Ningol Chakouba is complete without a traditional Manipuri feast. Guests were treated to authentic dishes such as lafu eronba, uti ashangba, nga thongba, and singju — lovingly prepared by KMA Pibas, rekindling the unmistakable taste of home.
A major highlight of the evening was the introduction of the “Laibak Fabi KMA Ningol” title — an honor celebrating grace, cultural pride, and contribution to the community.
Miss Monita was crowned Laibak Fabi KMA Ningol 2025, receiving heartfelt applause and warm congratulations.
Adding to the festive mood, a bumper housie game exclusively for the Ningols brought laughter and excitement throughout the night.
The celebration concluded with a sincere address from the KMA President, who thanked all members for their dedication and teamwork in making the event a memorable success.
Ningol Chakouba remains one of Manipur’s most cherished traditions — a festival that celebrates the deep bond between brothers and sisters, and the values of love, respect, and togetherness that define Manipuri society.
The success of KMA’s celebration in Jeonju stands as a proud reminder that even far from home, Manipuris continue to keep their roots alive and their hearts connected.
