In a landmark move towards digitizing public services and promoting transparency, the Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, officially launched the Cashless Payment System for Transport Services along with the implementation of electronic Driving Licences (eDL) and electronic Registration Certificates (eRC) at a ceremonial event held at Raj Bhavan, Imphal.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Transport Department, Government of Manipur, aims to streamline service delivery, reduce paperwork, and improve overall citizen convenience through technology-driven governance.
“This digital leap will not only make public services more accessible but also help curb malpractices and improve efficiency in the transport sector,” said Governor Bhalla during the launch event.

Smarter Public Services for a Digital Manipur
From 18th July 2025, all transport-related payments—such as fees for driving licences, registration, permits, and fines—can be made using cashless modes. Starting 1st August 2025, residents will be allowed to carry digital copies of their driving licences and vehicle registration certificates through government-authorised platforms like DigiLocker and mParivahan, eliminating the need for physical documents.
This move is aligned with India’s broader Digital India mission and the push for good governance through technology. The eDL and eRC will also enable easier verification by enforcement authorities, reducing hassles for both drivers and officials.
