In a gesture of gratitude and solidarity, the Government of Manipur has appointed Shri Chingakham Naoba Singh as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (Civil Police) under the Home Department. The appointment honors the supreme sacrifice made by his elder brother, Late Constable (CT) Deepak Chingakham of the Border Security Force (BSF), who was martyred during “Operation Sindoor” in Jammu & Kashmir.
The appointment was approved by the Governor-in-Council during a sitting held on July 11, 2025, and was based on both humanitarian and exceptional grounds, recognizing the martyrdom in national service and the family’s hardship.

Background of the Martyrdom
Late CT Deepak Chingakham, 25, of Yairipok Yambem Mathak Leikai, Imphal East District, laid down his life in the line of duty during unprovoked cross-border firing by Pakistani forces in the RS Pura sector of Jammu & Kashmir. He succumbed to his injuries on May 11, 2025.
In recognition of his bravery and sacrifice, the state government also extended an enhanced ex-gratia of ₹10 lakh to his next of kin under the “Major Laishram Jyotin Singh Ashok Chakra (Posthumous) Ex-Gratia Scheme.”
Humanitarian Support Recognized
The appointment of Chingakham Naoba Singh was made after his family submitted a request for suitable employment under compassionate grounds. The government found merit in the request, emphasizing the national significance of the martyrdom and the moral responsibility to support families of national heroes.
