Ms. S. Losa from Senapati and Smt. Gloria Inkah from Noney — two active Self Help Group (SHG) members under the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) — carried the pride of the state to the national stage as special invitees at the historic 79th Independence Day celebrations held at Red Fort, New Delhi.
The two women leaders had a packed itinerary. On August 14, they visited the National Museum in Delhi and later attended the Lakhpati Didi Felicitation Ceremony at Pusa, where they were honoured by Union Ministers for their achievements under SHG initiatives.
The celebrations took a personal turn when they marked Raksha Bandhan with Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development. On August 15, they joined dignitaries and citizens from across the country at the Red Fort to witness the grandeur of the Independence Day parade and Prime Minister’s address.
Their participation is a testament to the transformative power of SHGs in shaping not just livelihoods, but also leadership among rural women. Both Losa and Inkah embody the growing role of women as agents of change — strengthening communities, advancing rural development, and contributing to a more empowered and inclusive India.
