The House on Wednesday approved the extension of President’s Rule in Manipur for another six months, effective from August 13, 2025. The resolution was moved by Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and received clearance from the Parliamentary Committee.
President’s Rule was first imposed in the state on February 13, 2025, amid escalating law and order concerns and political instability. This latest extension will continue central control over the state administration until mid-February 2026, unless an elected government is formed before the deadline.
“The decision was taken to ensure law and order and maintain peace in the state,” MoS Nityanand Rai said while tabling the resolution.
