In a major crackdown on the illegal liquor trade, Manipur Police on June 27 apprehended two individuals near FCP Gate in Jiribam district and seized a large quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and Distilled Indigenous Country (DIC) liquor from their possession. The operation was carried out by a team under Jiribam Police Station.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:

Action Taken
The seized liquor and the two accused were handed over to the Excise Department after completing all legal formalities. Preliminary investigation suggests the consignment was meant for illicit distribution in dry or restricted zones within the state.
A police official involved in the operation stated:
“We are committed to curbing the flow of illegal liquor in Manipur, especially in areas where prohibition laws are strictly enforced. Regular checks are being conducted at inter-district and inter-state transit points.”

The state government and police have intensified their campaign against the illegal sale and transportation of liquor, especially in districts bordering Assam and Nagaland, which are considered high-risk routes for smuggling.
