Shri Suresh Gopi, Hon’ble Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Tourism, visited Bishnupur district to review ongoing government schemes and assess departmental performance.
At the Mini Secretariat Complex, Shri Gopi chaired a high-level meeting with district officials. Deputy Commissioner Smt. Pooja Elangbam presented Bishnupur’s diverse tourism assets, including Loktak Lake, Sangai Ethnic Park, INA War Memorial, and Khoriphaba Temple.
The Minister underscored the need to transform Loktak Lake into a world-class tourist destination, citing its potential to drive economic growth and create jobs. He also called for innovation and improved outcomes in healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure. Special focus areas included reducing infant mortality, tackling sickle cell anaemia and malaria, boosting millet production, and capacity building for teachers.
Shri Gopi inspected the District Hospital Bishnupur, reviewing patient care facilities and interacting with staff. He then visited the Indian Peace Memorial at Maibam Lokpa Ching to honour fallen soldiers, followed by a tour of the Imphal Peace Museum.
Reiterating the Prime Minister’s vision for holistic development, Shri Gopi assured that the Union Government would extend full support to Bishnupur’s growth — blending heritage preservation with modern infrastructure.
