The National People’s Party (NPP) has brought a new face into its national leadership. Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze, a former Member of Parliament from Outer Manipur, has been appointed as the National Secretary of the party for the 2025–2028 term.
The appointment was formally announced by NPP’s National President and Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma, through an official notification dated September 17. The order cited Article 11 of the party’s constitution as the basis of the decision.
“In exercise of power conferred upon me as National President of the National People’s Party (NPP) under Article 11 of the Constitution of NPP, Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze is hereby appointed as the National Secretary of the National People’s Party for the tenure 2025–2028,” read the notification.
Shift from NPF to NPP
Dr. Pfoze’s appointment comes just days after he made a decisive political shift. On September 11, 2025, he resigned from the Naga People’s Front (NPF), the party under which he had earlier represented Outer Manipur in the Lok Sabha.
On September 16, he formally joined the NPP during a welcoming ceremony held at the party’s national headquarters in Shillong. His entry was seen as a significant political development for both Manipur and the broader northeastern political landscape.
