Manipur Launches “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” with Governor’s Inauguration

Manipur has officially launched the state-level “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan”, a fortnight-long campaign aimed at improving women’s health and strengthening families as the foundation of a healthy community. The inauguration ceremony took place on September 17 at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Khumbong, Imphal West.

The event was graced by Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, as the Chief Guest. Shri Puneet Kumar Goel, Chief Secretary of Manipur, presided over the function, while Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, MLA of Konthoujam Assembly Constituency, attended as the Guest of Honour.

Governor Praises Health Workers’ Dedication

During his visit, Governor Bhalla toured the health kiosks and departmental stalls set up at the venue, personally interacting with State Nodal Officers (SNOs) and volunteers. He commended the tireless commitment of healthcare workers who continue to serve on the frontlines of community health.

“The health of women directly reflects on the health of families and society. I deeply appreciate the work being done to ensure preventive care reaches the grassroots,” the Governor remarked.

Large-Scale Participation and Outreach

The inaugural health camp drew more than 2,000 beneficiaries, marking a strong start for the campaign. Attendees accessed free consultations, diagnostic services, and awareness sessions. A total of 46 stalls were set up, representing various health and allied departments — ranging from maternal health and nutrition to mental health support and non-communicable disease screening.

Why It Matters

The “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” is more than a health camp—it’s a statewide movement to address women’s health holistically. By combining medical outreach with awareness drives, the programme recognizes that women’s well-being is central to building stronger families and resilient communities.

The initiative will run till October 2, 2025, with similar camps and activities planned across different districts. Officials expect thousands more to benefit from free health services in the coming weeks.

Looking Ahead

With women’s health often under-prioritized, this campaign highlights the government’s focus on inclusive and preventive healthcare. If implemented consistently, it has the potential to not just treat illnesses but also reshape community attitudes toward women’s health and wellness.
