In a step towards promoting sustainable mobility, Imphal International Airport has inaugurated a dedicated Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station, now open for use by all EV owners and visitors.
Conveniently located in the last row of the airport parking area, the charging station is part of the airport’s broader commitment to green transport infrastructure and reducing carbon emissions in line with India’s Net Zero 2070 goals.
Powering a Greener Future
The new EV charging point is equipped with multiple charging ports compatible with leading electric vehicle models. Designed for convenience and quick turnaround, the facility supports both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, allowing travellers and local commuters to recharge while they’re on the move.
“The EV charging station reflects our ongoing effort to make Imphal Airport not just a gateway for travel, but also a hub for sustainable innovation,” said an airport official.
“We encourage all electric vehicle users — passengers, visitors, and service providers — to make full use of this facility.”
How to Access the Facility
Located at the far end of the parking zone, the charging station is clearly signposted and accessible round-the-clock during airport operating hours.
Users can simply:
Park their EVs in the designated charging bay.
Connect via standard EV charging cables or adapters available on-site.
Monitor charging status on the station display or mobile app (where available).
Charges are applied per unit consumed, following standard government-approved EV tariff rates.
Supporting India’s Electric Revolution
The introduction of the EV Charging Station is part of the Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) green airport initiative — encouraging the transition to eco-friendly infrastructure and contributing to sustainable aviation operations.
Imphal Airport has already implemented several green measures, including:
