Three athletes from Manipur are representing India at the 9th Senior Asian Pencak Silat Championship 2025, currently underway in Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam from July 24 to 31.
The Indian contingent features Wahengbam Sudhir Meetei, Premchandra Yengkhom, and Thokchom Roji Chanu, who have been selected to compete against top martial artists from across Asia.

Roji Chanu is participating in the Tanding (combat) category, while Sudhir and Premchandra are teaming up for the Seni Artistic Ganda event, which focuses on choreographed fighting techniques showcasing skill, rhythm, and traditional movements.
The championship is officially recognized by the International Pencak Silat Federation (PERSILAT) and the Asian Pencak Silat Federation, and is hosted by the Vietnam Pencak Silat Federation in collaboration with the Vietnam Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam.
The participation of Manipuri athletes continues to affirm the state’s growing influence in martial arts on the Asian stage.
