Kangla, the historic heart of Imphal, came alive this morning as hundreds of runners gathered for the 134th Manipur Police Raising Day Run 2025, organized under the spirited theme “Run for Health, Run for Peace.”
What began as a departmental initiative quickly transformed into a community celebration, with around 900 participants — men and women, young and old — joining in. Among them were about 160 police officers and personnel, symbolizing the shared values of discipline, fitness, and unity.
The event was flagged off by Shri L. Kailun, IPS, ADGP (Law & Order), Manipur, in the presence of senior police officials, volunteers, and enthusiastic citizens. The start line buzzed with excitement, and the cheers that followed each runner reflected a rare camaraderie between the force and the public.
A Resounding Success Despite Technical Hiccups
The event’s popularity was evident even before the race began — the official registration website briefly crashed due to overwhelming traffic. Organizers later described it as a “happy problem,” citing it as proof of the growing community enthusiasm for fitness-driven initiatives.
DGP: “The Run Symbolizes the Bond Between Police and People”
Addressing the gathering, Shri Rajiv Singh, IPS, Director General of Police, Manipur, expressed immense satisfaction with the turnout and lauded both participants and organizers.
“This run represents more than a race — it’s a symbol of partnership between the police and the people,” the DGP said. “Fitness, discipline, and community spirit define both policing and good citizenship. Today, Manipur showed how united we can be.”
He extended special thanks to Team 195 BPM for their meticulous planning, as well as to the Imphal West District Police and Traffic Police, whose coordination ensured the event ran safely and smoothly.
Celebrating Fitness, Youth, and Community Spirit
The DGP also emphasized that the Raising Day Run reflects the Manipur Police’s commitment to building stronger community relations while promoting physical fitness among citizens. He highlighted the state’s remarkable sporting legacy, saying:
“Manipur has produced champions who have made India proud. Through this annual run, we want to carry that spirit forward — encouraging every youth to stay fit, stay focused, and stay committed to the progress of our state and nation.”
Prizes, Medals, and a Promise for the Future
The 16 km event saw spirited performances from both men and women. Prizes were distributed to the top 10 winners in each category, recognising excellence and encouraging more citizens to take up regular fitness activities.
Every finisher received a medal and participation certificate, a gesture that participants described as “motivating and memorable.”
Encouraged by the success and overwhelming response, DGP Rajiv Singh announced that the Manipur Police Raising Day Run will now be held annually, turning it into a new tradition celebrating unity, health, and peace across the state.
A Tradition Renewed
From seasoned runners to first-timers, from officers to civilians, everyone who joined the 134th Raising Day Run carried home not just medals but memories — of togetherness, discipline, and hope.
The event ended with a simple but powerful message echoing through Kangla’s grounds:
“Run for Health, Run for Peace — and keep Manipur moving forward.”
